Global jazz journeys with the acclaimed Darius Brubeck Quartet

Jazz enthusiasts will be excited to learn that American pianist Darius Brubeck, son of the legendary Dave Brubeck, is performing at Wiltshire Music Centre with his band, The Darius Brubeck Quartet!

The band has travelled the world and released three critically acclaimed CDs, Cathy’s Summer, Years Ago, and their most recent, The Darius Brubeck Quartet: Live in Poland, recorded at the end of their historic 2018 tour. Concerts are built around Darius Brubeck’s compositions, South African jazz, and some well-loved Dave Brubeck hits. The Quartet’s mutual understanding and interaction is a pleasure to hear, and their acoustic sound is melodic, spontaneous, rhythmic and engaging.

Darius has had a long career in jazz. In the 70’s and early 80’s, he led his own groups, played with the likes of Don McLean and Larry Coryell, and was ushered into the international jazz scene as a member of Two Generations of Brubeck and The New Brubeck Quartet (Dave, Darius, Chris, and Dan Brubeck) under his father’s leadership. As an educator, Darius founded and taught at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, as well as teaching in Romania and Turkey. Darius now lives in the UK and leads the London-based Darius Brubeck Quartet, which has been together for 15 years and tours internationally. Since 2010 he has also toured with Brubeck’s Play Brubeck, appearing annually at Ronnie Scott’s.
